Comments if it spreads to the rebel prisoners it will take them clean. Reports one hospital has over 200 sick rebels and many die every day. The letter has a watermark on the top left hand corner.

Reports that he and a few other soldiers are still trying to get a discharge. Writes of Congress repealing the $300 bonus for joining the army. Letter is addressed to his friends but envelope is addressed to his father, A. P. Kessler.

William writes that the base is in an uproar because fifty percent of the squadron is sick with measles, scarlet fever, and pneumonia. So far he has not gotten sick but the two barracks on either side have both gotten sick and quarantined. He predicts the whole base will be down by next week. Jules also mentions that the weather is unpredictable, warm one day and cold the next. He writes, "Everyone, me too, is coughing that's the Crowder Croup."
