States that his wife Caroline LeRoy Webster has "driven out" with Mrs. Blatchford (likely the wife of his close friend and business associate Richard Blatchford) and another acquaintance.

Sherman informs Kimmel, possibly a former Civil War soldier from Ohio "I retain my usual good health and the love of Old Comrades." Declares "As to the sending a copy of my memoirs 2nd Ed. I am sure that you labor under the Common impression that the author owns the book. Not so, it is the publisher, a Copy of my own memoirs costs me within 50 cts the same as you or any purchaser." States that the price of the memoirs is $5, and provides publisher information for Kimmel in case he would like to order the memoirs directly from the publisher.

Says he arrived in New York 2 days ago after a passage of 39 days from Falmouth. Reports that he left London on 29 June and that William Knox and their friend Brett saw his post chaise off. Notes the enclosed letter is meant for him (not included) and that he has a large book for George Washington. The book is from the Spanish Ambassador and he will deliver it himself unless Knox can suggest a safe means to convey it. Enclosed with a broadside with GLC02437.05093.01. Advertises the work to be published by Tatham. Says the analysis covers each state and "shewing the extent and relative Situation of the several Counties." It will be continued annually. Says three copies are to be published in French, German, and English. Note written by Tatham says "A Copy hereof fild in the Office of the Federal Court as the Law Directs."

Forwards one of his subscriptions for Knox's review and opinion: "If sir, you approve of it, I shall be gratified to have it honor'd with the name of so dear & valuable a friend." Notes how the people in his area need books and asks for donations. Mentions he has just returned from the commencement ceremony at Dartmouth College.

Rivington, a journalist and bookseller, writes to an unspecified recipient (possibly Henry Knox). Writes, "I would long ago have sent you the Irish Editions you wanted but on examining found I had no quantity to make up a parcell [sic]... I now trouble you with 6 Dozen of my almanack with a list of the whole American Army Subalterns included which never was done before & will be much demanded by the military..." Also transmits a parcel for D. Philips of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and some pills Rivington claims can cure a great number of [ailments?].

Atkins writes to Sanders from prison while serving time for her part in the Tate-LaBianca murders committed while a member of the Manson family. Atkins thanks Sanders for the story of his adventure getting her book, considering it "one of those cool drinks of water that refreshes my soul." She talks about her book (Child of Satan, Child of God), food, the book Helter Skelter and computers. Written on a single length of thermal "fax" paper.

Contains a lengthy list of books and their prices. Possibly related to Henry Knox's bookstore, which his brother William helped operate while Henry served in the military. A note at the bottom of page indicates, "Dead stock that will neither sell at vendue or private sale for sterling lost."

Informs Henry that "the attachment on the house is completed." Discusses other details regarding the house, but is somewhat unclear. Seems to be saying that Mr. Hitchburn still owes Knox 2,000 pounds for the house, which it appears that he has purchased. Mr. Hitchburn is also discussed, along with the house, in GLC02437.00565. Asks Henry if Mr Rea should paint any saddle clothes for him, states he has not yet procured a silk handkerchief, and cannot find Mr. Garey's promissory note. Answers Williams questions from a previous letter. First says his effects are stored in Springfield. Next discusses the lease on his store. Advises William on what clothes and other goods he will need to procure for Henry. Lastly says that he will be assigned as a "volunteer aid de camp to General Greene," and reminds William that he will need to learn to ride better to fill this post.
