3 December 1918
Hopkins, Harold C., fl. 1918-1919
Autograph letter signed
Title: to Mrs. A.W. Hopkins
Writes to his mother regarding the unreliability of the mail. Reminds her that the army issues plenty of socks but no maple sugar. Encloses a photograph of boys with whom he came to Europe (not included). Describes his trip to England and Scotland. In response to his father's inquiry, Hopkins writes that the only bird he can identify is the French variety of crow which, he says, speaks French as is does not "caw" like its American counterpart. Includes his Thanksgiving Day menu. Written on Salvation Army Hostels letterhead.
