Based on the content of the letter it is possible the addressor is Henry Knox, however, the letter is not in Henry Knox's handwriting. Docket notes the letter was written to George Ulmer.

Document is not signed but appears to be in Knox's handwriting. Discusses a large barn full of various items such as hay and rye. Also discusses a shed adjoining the barn and the total value of the goods. Letter is likely referring to Mr. Joseph Jones or Mr. Benjamin Bartlett's barn that was burnt down by the settlers in retaliation of Knox's surveying. See George Ulmer's letter to Henry Knox informing him about the fire (GLC02437.07605). Written on verso of a printed document: "Know all men by these presents..."

Document is not signed but appears to be in Henry Knox's handwriting. A list of names of the insurgents. Relays a conversation between James [Cates] and William Whitney (who is one of the names listed as an insurgent). Appears Whitney was trying to find out the whereabouts of the surveyors from Cates who refused to tell him. On the last page there is also a list of names of the residents of Jackson, Maine. Docket suggests letter is written to Joseph Jones. Date was written at a later date in pen.

Noted as a copy. Reports on conversation he had with an old acquaintance regarding the settlers' opinions about Knox's lands being surveyed. His friend says the settlers are determined to butcher the Ulmer's, Houston, and Wilson with bayonets. Also reports the settlers had 60 to 70 men out on Sunday and the settlers expect to receive information the next time Ulmer's party goes. A letter from Henry Knox to the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts regarding Joseph Jones' petition. Knox appears to be seeking help from the government for Joseph Jones and Benjamin Bartlett whose barns and goods were burnt down by the insurgents in Maine. Letter is possibly a draft.

Also describes other hostile acts the settlers committed. A note at the bottom of the letter states the above mentioned names made an oath to the truth.

Minutes of meetings concerning land claims of a variety of settlers, examined on a case-by-case basis. The claims pertain to lands "in the first Range North of the Waldo Patent." The meetings were presided over by Salem Towne "in pursuance of a Resolve of the General Court." Minutes were taken by Samuel E. Dutton, who included several comments of his own throughout.

Marked "copy." Relates the experiences of George Ulmer, one of the Justices assigned to keep the peace in Ducktrap, Maine, on 4 July 1805. Received a report that five hundred armed men were assembled in the Davistown area to march to Castine and rescue two prisoners. Discusses his attempts to gather information about the revolt, and the people he found involved. Also relates threats against his life for being a spy.
