Aaron Forman, Assistant Deputy Quarter Master, writes to Shaw to inform him that he has recovered a mare that had been left at Sadler's Tavern. Explains that she was "badly foundered" and he did not think she could be made fit in time for the next campaign. Because of that, and because she was very old, he decided to sell her. The bearer of this letter will bring a new horse, which he hopes is good enough to replace the mare.

I have therefore taken the Liberty to refer him to you not doubting but you will as soon as convenient order him a party from the garrison under your Command."

Agreement signed by Hart with his mark. The document is in the hand of the witness, Reiner John Van den Brock, who also signed it. States that Hart is to supply Knox's stable with 12 tons of hay from the date of this document to 1 April 1792. Hay to be weighed at Knox's stable. Knox is to pay 3 pounds, 17 shillings, and sixpence in Pennsylvania currency, including the cartage.

Describes interactions with Captain [John] Hills, the surveyor, including all of his offers to help Hills. Discusses a recent loss their troops suffered. Hopes the loss will show the importance of establishing a national defense and a proper military establishment. Both he and his wife send their regards to Knox and Mrs. Knox. In a postscript Hull asks Knox to remember his part of the country if there should be an augmentation of troops.

Written by Major Gibbs to Major General Knox. Says he wrote Knox a letter on 27 August from Brunswick and since then his regiment has been reduced by sickness. Reports he left 60 men in Brunswick and more have become sick since marching from there. Says that Lt. Bullard, quartermaster of the 2nd regiment who was sent ahead, will be able to give Knox a full report. Says if there is not enough water transportation to take the entire regiment to West Point from Kings Ferry, he will only send along his invalids and baggage. Hopes to reach West Point by Wednesday if the weather is favorable.…
