"[T]he Hoosiers are getting quite an envious Reputation in the army, even among Regulars, the fact is, they have to much Reputation now, for there own good. So much fame as fighting men, only Serves to put them in the greater danger."

Part of an old recruitment [?] broadside hangs beneath the sign. A man standing center holds a 12th Corps flag. A wooden stake in the ground in front of the group has the number "100" written on it. There also appears to be a small boulder in front of the men. Tipton's imprint notes him as "The Battlefield Photographer, Gettysburg, Pa." The number "340" was scratched into the negative and printed on the image.
