Title: to Henry Knox
Jackson requests that Knox attest that Jackson in the winter of 1792-1793 "went to New York at the joint instance of Mr. Bingham and yourself and negociated the transfer of Mr. Duer's right to preemtion of said lands." The lands were those purchased in Maine. Jackson then "accompanied Mr. Bringham to Boston and assisted him to transact the business of the said concern with the Committee of the Commonwealth, it was not your meaning that those service were to be compensated by an allowance of the residuary profits on the proportion of One hundred thousand acres of said lands."
