Graham sends his condolences on the death of Stephen Van Cortlandt. He also discusses Livingston's suspension from being Collector of the Excise, which he considers to be "a paradox" when viewed with the same eye as reading of Bellomont's "Esteem" for Livingston. Graham also discusses the proposed match between John Livingston and Mary Winthrop, "I am apt to believe that the mariadge is as good as any N England mariadge." Jannet Miller writes to her uncle in an effort to dissuade him from granting his blessing on his daughter Margaret marrying Samuel Vetch. Miller writes that Vetch is hated by "al his country and that for his evil deads." She then tells of young Robert's progress in his studies - "he is good conditioned and lovs to be incouraged" but is not yet ready "to make acquaintanc with any of the Scholars." Winthrop apologizes for his previous lack of written salutations, and begins with expressing his surprise at understanding that John Livingston was interested in the hand of Mary Winthrop, believing that Livingston had visited him on his return home only to express "a Civillety". Having discovered the younger Livingston's intentions in the older Livingston's letter, Winthrop is non-committal as to granting his blessing to this union, as "she is my onely child and most deare to me." States that "Hannah Toby Indian Woman" has indentured her son "Javin Toby a Molatto" to John Steadman and his wife for fifteen years and five months. The terms of the indenture specify that "He shall not use any unlawfull games, nor Contract Matrimony nor Commit Fornication during sd Term." He must faithfuly obey them, and they must provide food and clothing.

The power of attorney had been granted by Burges Ball and John Payne, and their wives, and pertained to the administration of land in Virginia. Also contains a copy of the identity and marriage certification made by James Gordon, the justice of the peace for Lancaster County, Virginia, as well as James Ball, Dale Carter, and Richard Mitchell. A note on the verso by Thomas Griffin indicates that the certification was recorded in a court in Lancaster County on 15 September 1774.

Mentions family troubles and his wife's illness, exacerbated by his decision to remain in Tripoli "from a sense of public duty," and discusses gifts for the Bashaw's sons upon their marrgiages. Title: Will and Testament of Robert Livingston

Livingston's son John is named as the heir to Livingston Manor. The lands are divided amongst John, Philip, Robert, and Gilbert, while the houses in the town of Albany are divided amongst Margret and Johanna . His wife was to receive land as well, contingent on her "pure widowhood." Livingston further names his wife as executrix of his will, and divides the estate of his parents and that of his wife's parents equally amongst all his children. He wills the sum of £50 along with clothing and "necssaries" to his nephew Robert .
