Notes already in Past Perfect said this document is from the papers of Ezekiel Williams, which could not be confirmed from the collateral files. But the content of the letter makes Williams a likely recipient. Wolcott says he forgot to mail a previous letter requesting a list of prisoners. Says yesterday this country was "surprised by a hot press, which like an explosion swept between 3 & 4000 seamen, and to day we find the course in a Message sent by the King to the House of commons." Writes that he will not compliment him on his public letter to the judge, but whenever he has heard merchants discuss the letter, they appear to agree with his position. Would be happy to help Captain Newman, "because you request it, and because I believe him to be an excellent soldier." However, he does not believe that more military forces will be raised in the near future, but if it should happen that more are raised, he will help the Captain.

Knox has received Davis's letter of November 6, "but has not had time to have prepared and executed power of attorney for the sale of Mrs. Knox's lands." He says he business with Mr. Bridge requires "good faith." Discusses the Duck pond lands. Knox needs his wife's land sold for cash that he badly needs. Tells Davis that his European merchants would surely be interested in his "excellent grey and yellow oak lumber which has been seasoned in the fall water for three years."
