Receipt for $219.30 from the Gran Hotel in Managua. Walker appears to have been entertaining guests or dignitaries. Receipt lists payments for a special apartment, 3 servants, and several bottles of wine, beer, and champagne. One of the guests with Walker is A. G. Menocal, who is tried before a U.S. Navy General Court in May 1898. Walker testified at the trial -- see GLC 03804.26. Another guest is Lewis M. Haupt, who wrote a letter to Walker at GLC03804.30.

On 8 June says he is 30 miles south of Savannah and near their destination of the boundary between Georgia and Florida. Says their departure from Charleston was sudden and was not able to tell her that he was put in charge of the privateer that was captured a week earlier. At the top of the page, Shaw writes a note to Miles granting a license to a Mr. Reynolds to be a sutler at the West Point garrison. Asks Miles to keep a register of the licenses he grants, and that the licenses take the following standard format: "Mr. [blank space] is hereby licensed to suttle on West Point till further orders - he conforming himself to and strictly obeying all orders and regulations which are or may hereafter be given for the government of sutlers. Agreement between Morris, acting as Superintendent of the Finances of the United States (appointed by Congress), and Comfort Sands, Richard Sands and Joshua Sands of New York that the Sandses will "furnish and deliver" to West Point and other nearby posts a number of rations of provisions to be determined weekly by the Secretary of War. Provisions include flour, beef or pork, whiskey or rum, salt, and vinegar. Contemporary clerical copy created for Knox's file. Signer of the U.S. Constitution.

Licensing authorities include Generals [Alexander] McDougal, [William] Heath and [John] Paterson, and Colonels [John] Crane and Shephard [possibly William Shepard].
