Scammon writes as Colonel of the 23rd Ohio to General Cox, the division commander at Charleston, West Virginia. States that Colonel Rutherford B. Hayes has reported that some men of the 23rd Ohio have captured 15 "noted Bushwhackers" and burned their rendezvous. Informs of the supplies they captured, including muskets, bacon, flour, and six canoes. Notes that no one was hurt and ends by stating, "They deserve no leniency."
