Title: "Propositions made by the Rever Indians that Live at Sckaghkook to . . .
. . . the Magistrates of Albanie." The River Indians state that their Sachem is dead, and they request the protection of Corlaer, as they believe it to be a dangerous time for Indians. They also agree to remain at Skachkook, and to increase their numbers there. In their response, the English congratulate the River Indians for renewing their covenant, and instruct them to be careful with whom they choose to be their next Sachem.
