Notes that their camp has moved twice since he last wrote and they are now in Alexandria, Virginia. States that they are two miles from the river and are currently employed in building a fort. He writes that the enemy is only 12 miles away. He is worried that the officers do not show enough bravery. So much so that he fears all will be lost if they do not show more. Writes that if there is a battle in which the enemy is to be defeated and give his country hope, he would not mind falling in that battle.
