Title: Prohibition of fur trading with Indians

The Court of Mayor and Aldermen declares that it has come to their attention that a great many people have violated orders prohibiting trade with Indians at Albany. The new order states that such practices have led to disturbances in the area, and states that a fine will be imposed upon anyone caught trading fur with Indians in Albany.

Lovelace therefore declares that from henceforward, anyone who wishes to trade liquor in those places must first declare their intentions to the custom house and pay the lawful duty.

The attorney general Thomas Trevir, and the Solicitor John Hawley, give their opinions as to whether an act for preventing frauds in the plantation trade should be applied to Scotchmen. Both men state that a Scotchman is a natural born subject of England, and therefore accountable to the provision.
