Title: to Henry Knox

Indicates that he received Thomas Boylston's bill on Champion & Dickason for two hundred pounds sterling and an order for books. Expresses satisfaction with Knox's rebuttal of earlier accusations about underselling that Longman had heard from Knox's competitors (see GLC02437.00013). States that he is sending Knox five trunks and a box of books, and a statement of Knox's account for 1772 [not included]. Longman was a London bookseller.

Says she left Baltimore yesterday and has been ill since January and is taking cod liver oil. Mentions that the price of corn is 60 cents/bushel. Says the old town (probably Martinsburg) looks as usual and that "the railroad is its life." Claims that "Prices are high here, marketing and everything so the country people ought to have some money. The retained copy book record of army officers' letters and telegraphs concerning the affairs of the Twentieth Infantry. Discusses the removal of the Winnebago tribe of Indians, which is being hampered by white men who trade with the tribe, specifically a lawyer named Lee. To ease the removal the army has captured Indians in a series of raids, including a chief named Big Hawk and seventy three of his men.
