Greene is informing Compton that he needs assistance in the movement of cannon requested by Major General John Sullivan on Rhode Island. Hopes he can arrange for "True friends to this Country" to assist in the effort of getting them aboard ships to send to Sullivan. Letter is badly faded at some points and some text loss has occurred. On verso, Compton has countersigned this request, stating he has warned the inhabitants of Providence. Asks for 18 shillings in fees. Greene then signs an order below…

Title: The Offices of the Massachusetts Line

This document is a May 1793 account signed by Treasurer Henry Jackson with lists of payments to and from "The Officers of the Massachusetts Line". Along with this document is a note citing a payment of 214 dollars, "subscribed by a number of officers of the Line" to General William Hull. The general had been appointed by his fellow officers in the spring of 1792 to press a memorial to Congress requesting further compensation for Revolutionary War veterans. The note is attached to the debit report with a wax seal. These documents are stored in Size 1, Box 31.
