Receipt for the personal belongings of eighteen men, which were sold to Livingston. Items include horses, carbines, calico stockings, and hats. P.3 contains a statement signed by 19 men ordering that Livingston pay the balance of his account with them. The men seem to be troops stationed at Schenectady. Also includes a note signed by George Lockhart attesting to the truth of previous statement. It is dated 1 June 1688.

The document explains that Mr. Franklin has been accused of violently forcing himself upon the estate of Robert van Deusen's son on the Manor of Livingston, and turning the said tenant out at gun point. When Robert Livingston, Jr. confronted Mr. Franklin on the matter, Mr. Franklin's men turned their guns on Livingston while Franklin declared that he would not leave unless he received orders from Governor Shirley. Title: Proposition to the Commissioners of Albany with an answer

The Sachems report that they are resolved not to let a priest or French man live among them, and state that they are returning to their castles for security. They also complain of the lack of security offered by the English, and request more arms and ammunition. In their answer, the Commissioners thank the Sachems for their affirmation of the covenant chain, and agree with their mistrust of the French. They also agree to supply the Indians with the best powder and ammunition so that they may avenge the death of 5 Indians.

The Showenoos Indians state that most of their men have gone hunting, but they wish to welcome Coll. Hunter to New York. In his response, Hunter states his disapproval with the Indians for having gone out hunting, but thanks them for their show of respect and offers them a gift of guns, powder, lead, and flints.

Hunter informs Schuyler that a group of French men and officers recently arrived at Onondaga, and he wishes Schuyler to travel there immediately. While at Onondaga, Schuyler is instructed to thank the Indians for informing the English of the French arrival, and to remind them that they are not permitted to keep armed men, priests, or emissaries among them. Hunter also orders Schuyler to be present at all meetings between the French and Onondagas, and to send some Indians to the Canadian frontier to keep an eye on French movements.

Topics include civilian rule (May 4 appointing Police Superintendent and a Mayor), appointment of Sir Henry Clinton commander in chief (June 1), recruiting and weapons practice, supplies, wood-cutting, and paroles. The manuscript may be in the handwriting of Captain Philips of the 38th Foot, who was appointed Jones's secretary on May 4.…

Title: [Manual of marching maneuvers]

Hand bound notebook containing detailed instructions for marching maneuvers. In one half of the notebook, Renshaw has written out instructions for the loading, firing and inspection of arms. When flipped over, the other half of the notebook contains instructions for various maneuvers -- for example, sections titled "To Break into Column of Platoons from a halt" and "To change directions towards Guide." This side of the booklet also includes two unlabeled lists of men's names. Written in pen and pencil and sewn in the middle with black thread.
