Title: An Appendix to the Notes on Virginia Relative to the Murder of Logan's Family
Printed by Samuel H. Smith. Jefferson's separately printed appendix to his Notes on Virginia, containing the evidence upon which he charged Capt. Cresap with the murder of Logan's family and other peaceful Indians. The appendix was printed to respond to the charge that Jefferson had invented the narrative that appeared in the "Notes" to cover for a speech made by Logan. The account stands as a famous appeal for fairness to the Indians. The map is a rather sparse representation of Pittsburgh and the region west to the Ohio River. Howes J74 ("aa"). Sabin 35880. Evans 37700. Field 774 (note).
