Letter written by Sewall as a Loyalist refugee in London to his Revolutionary friend Foxcroft in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A very witty letter throughout. Predicts the downfall of the American experiment. Writes in a mocking tone about "your high & mighty committees, as I suppose will be the case in your free & independent State." In order to protect Foxcroft from charges that he is corresponding with a Tory he writes that he has not received a line from him since August 31, 1774, except one innocuous one having to do with gowns shortly thereafter. Letter written by Galvez as the Spanish military commander that harried British forces in the Deep South and the Caribbean to Piernas as a lieutenant colonel in the Spanish forces. Quick note that says that after Captain Gilberto Guillemard reestablishes himself and arrives at the plaza, he will have permission and assistance to do whatever is necessary. There is discoloration on the paper where a paperclip was used.

Letter in the hand of Andrew Jackson Donelson, President Jackson' s nephew and amanuensis. He penned the entire letter and signature. Jackson denies Texas U.S. aid because of neutrality. In the letter, he mentions countermanding order for troops to help Texans. He also notes sufficiency of men to defeat the Creeks and Seminoles. Letter written to Gov. Charles Lynch of Mississippi. Per Papers of Jackson, 5/27/97, the President wrote a similar letter to the governors of Kentucky and Louisiana the same day.

An eloquent letter written as President to Vice President Burleson, acting as a general, relating to the Mexican invasion of 1842. Houston tries to encourage Burleson to pursue the retreating Mexican troops, rather than to disband his volunteers. He writes about the proper conduct of troops and "waken a spirit of endurance" among citizens. Houston anticipates military support from U.S. volunteers, but he is cautious in his expectations. Houston also writes that "Texas must be saved."
