Asks Knox to prepare a plan for artillery during the seige, and requests advice on planning the seige. Recently met with Count Rochambeau, hopes for aid in the form of manpower, naval support and supplies from the French. Also mentions "a secondary object, the reduction of Charles Town - Savanah." Written at "Head Quarters." On blue paper.

Writes, "The enclosed copy [not present] of the Petition which I have presented to His Majesty in Council on your behalf will shew you what measures have been taken to obtain the Royal approbation of your grant." Apparently is trying to counter the Crown's claim on lands between the Penobscot and St. Croix Rivers in Maine, which Waldo et. al. consider part of the Waldo patent. Also asks that they pay him as soon as is convenient.

Are unsure how much of a financial recompense is suitable to pay him, so ask him to mention a sum.

Signed by Schnaudiel as well as over twenty others. The authors, all German by birth, allege that in 1753, they were approached in Germany by Samuel Waldo, Jr. and offered settlement at Broad Bay in New England. The authors sold their homes in Germany and traveled to Broad Bay, where Waldo reneged on his promises, giving them less land, and land in poorer locations. Note on page 3 indicates that some of the signatories presented the petition to John Hill, Justice of the Peace, who signed it as a witness.
