With engraved scene depicting Europeans trading gold with the Indians on the banks of the Mississippi. Publicizing settling in America. Written in Dutch. (The translation in the title here comes from the first line: "Dit 's 't wond're Missisippi Land / Besaamd door zynen Actiehandel, ....") The Mississippi "bubble" began in 1717 with the Company of the West, whose stock was driven up by speculators expecting gold and other wealth in Louisiana. Title: [Order for fifteen men to join the expedition against the French at Crown Point]

Written to Captain John Wattle of Lebanon, Connecticut, during the French and Indian War. Indicates that three impressed men should come from five different companies, given bounties, and sent to join "Captain Leaches company for the said service." A postscript orders the "several Captains of the Proprietive Company of Foot abovenamed" to render assistance to Wattle in making the impressments and keeping the peace. Trumbull wrote, and signed twice, as colonel of the 12th Regiment.

Two officers and a civilian stand on the steps of the "Office of the Commissary General of Prisoners." The officer on the right is Gen. William Hoffman. The office itself was located in Washington, D.C. at F. St. and 20th NW. The address on the building reads "148."A man and a young boy stand just inside the doorway and another man looks out the window on the right. Inscription on verso: "Gardner." The image shows the tents of the camp at Culpeper in the distance. The town is visible behind the camp. There are fenced off fields in the foreground, the closest of which is just a line of fenceposts without rails. The rails were probably removed by the army to be used in camp fires, although there were regulations against it.

Four Federal cavalrymen are sitting or leaning on posts in the foreground on the right of the image. On the left, multiple railroad tracks lead off to the horizon. There are train cars on the leftmost track which were abandoned by the Confederates upon their evacuation. The track to its right diverges to form two parallel tracks. Farther back, several men on horseback are visible near the center of the image.
