A post script instructs Knox to send mail to McClure at Dartmouth College and requests Knox send him a copy of Wood's "New England's Prospect," a history of the Indians of New England. Knox lists sums for which he is accountable to "Michael Moses Hays." Knox notes, "Mr. Hay is secured for an endorsement by my mills, locks and canals on the St. George River which are worth at least 30000 Dollars." Knox ends with the passage that "this memorandum is therefore made, in case of death, that my heirs may not suffer in the cases of the aforementioned notes and payments." In this document, Knox reverses Hays's first two names from Moses Michael to Michael Moses.

Knox informs Reverend Morse that "Mr. Volney when in Boston in the spring of 97 himself gratified at the progress of the spirit of the french revolution." Knox quotes Volney as saying, '"'England said he will be revolutionized, the same spirit will run through Italy and all the German states and indeed throughout all the enlightened part of Europe." Knox continues to say that Volney insisted, then, Europe "will put christianity behind their back."
