Contemporary copy of the decision in the case of two printers, Thomas Rowe and Joshua Hooper, accused of sedition against the government of the United States. Hooper and Rowe were publishers of a newspaper, "The Yankee." On 20 January they printed a slanderous and malicious article criticizing the legislature of Massachusetts for weakening on the issue of Massachusetts seceding from the United States. The two publishers of the Yankee newspaper, Joshua Hooper and Thomas Rowe, were accused of sedition against the United States government for printing this article. Date inferred from content. The Committee on Federal Relations dissents from the reports of the majority and recommends the adoption of the following resolution: "That the Committee on Federal Relations be instructed to report an ordinance resuming the powers delegated by Virginia to the Federal Government, and to make provision for submitting the same to the qualified voters of the Commonwealth for their adoption or rejection." The ordinance of secession was adopted at Richmond, Virginia.
