Noted as a copy on the docket. Document is unsigned but appears to be in Knox's handwriting. Appears to be an agreement allowing Israel [Thorndale] to "enter" and "take hold" of a tract of land located in the back of Hampden, Maine (north of the Waldo patent). Includes details on the size of the land and the terms of the mortgage. Henry Knox, Henry Jackson, and Benjamin Lincoln's names are noted on the second page. There is a note at the bottom of letter says "The same to Benjamin [Pickman]."

Appears to be an official statement of events that took place in the county of Hancock, Maine. An informant reported there was a large gathering of armed men who intended to head to [Cartine?], Maine to release the prisoners. The informant reports the group of men were armed with muskets, bayonets, knapsacks, and swords and were trying to recruit followers and threatening those who refused to join them. Date was added at a later date in pen. There is a note written from George Ulmer on the bottom of the letter dated the same day stating Seobey made a solemn oath to the truth of his testimony.

Noted as a copy. Appears to be discussing an encounter he had with a "hellish gang" and reports on the information he learned. Mentions he was unwillingly "anisiated" [initiated?] this day into the "Diabolical Lodge" by one of the members of that society. Comments Elmore's and the others (likely the surveyors) lives are "very much exposed." Reports the people called "Liberty men" near the Waldo patent are gathering with the intention of releasing the prisoners and stopping the surveying. Appears Knox delivered the warrant to Richard Platt and received a certificate for $1000 from Platt signed by Winthrop Sargent. Note at bottom of the document states "Sworn before Major Wheaton Justice Peace 22 Aug', 1801." Docket notes the affidavit was written from Thomaston, Maine.

Based on the content of the letter it is possible the addressor is Henry Knox, however, the letter is not in Henry Knox's handwriting. Docket notes the letter was written to George Ulmer.

Noted as a copy. A detailed indenture between Henry Knox, Benjamin Lincoln, Henry Jackson, and Thomas Lindall Winthrop. The indenture appears to be for two tracts of land in Hampden, Maine sold to Winthrop by Knox, Lincoln, and Jackson. Indenture includes the boundaries of the land, terms of the agreement, and the amounts to be paid.

Also discusses a shed adjoining the barn and the total value of the goods. Letter is likely referring to Mr. Joseph Jones or Mr. Benjamin Bartlett's barn that was burnt down by the settlers in retaliation of Knox's surveying. See George Ulmer's letter to Henry Knox informing him about the fire (GLC02437.07605). Written on verso of a printed document: "Know all men by these presents..."

Relays a conversation between James [Cates] and William Whitney (who is one of the names listed as an insurgent). Appears Whitney was trying to find out the whereabouts of the surveyors from Cates who refused to tell him. On the last page there is also a list of names of the residents of Jackson, Maine. Docket suggests letter is written to Joseph Jones. Date was written at a later date in pen.

His friend says the settlers are determined to butcher the Ulmer's, Houston, and Wilson with bayonets. Also reports the settlers had 60 to 70 men out on Sunday and the settlers expect to receive information the next time Ulmer's party goes. Also includes two different lists of "evidences" (possibly witnesses) the first which is a list of names of men who were summoned to court and the second is a list of names of men who actually appeared at court.

Page two includes the receipt which is signed by James McCullison, Samuel Tilton (possibly a witness) and John Gleason as a witness. Appears to be a receipt for a cancelled bond for land in Hancock Country, Maine. Receipt shows James McCullison paid his note in full to Henry Knox for $545 plus interest for 100 acres owned by Knox.
