An attack on Andrew Jackson during the 1832 Presidential election. For the first four pages ("To the people of the United States), no author is cited. Pages 5 and 6 contain an address by Samuel Tucker "To the surviving officers and soldiers of the Revolution," in which Tucker accuses Jackson of violating the Constitution. Pages 6, 7, and 8 contain an extract from a letter by John Andrew Schulze, former Governor of Pennsylvania, dated 16 October 1832, in which Schulze attests that Jackson is unfit and unqualified for reelection. Campaign speech for the 1840 election. Includes comments by the publisher about the reaction of the crowds, what was going on and the atmosphere. Harrison denies being a Federalist and assures the crowd of his interest in the people's welfare: "I pledge myself before Heaven and earth, if elected President of these United States, to lay down at the end of the term faithfully that high trust at the feet of the people!" An anonymous author criticizes Van Buren and the Free Soil Party, which nominated him as candidate for the 1848 Presidential election: "No event in the history of political parties in this country since the establishment of the government, has excited more surprise, than the recent nomination of Martin Van Buren by the Buffalo Convention, as the Free-Soil, or Anti-Slavery Candidate for the Presidency."
