Tells him that with Washington's permission he will send an artificer to work on the wooden half of the house, but that it is out of his power to send a mason because "We have but one who knows his right hand from his left professionally and he is employed in such public works as are indispensible." This is Knox's response to Quartermaster Hay's earlier request (see GLC02437.02095).

Is requesting his assistance in getting Treat's half-pay pension for his mother, who needs it. Also says that "the last time he was at Haverhill I think he told me he lost a Valluable Horse at the [battle of] Brandy Wine & did not know wheather it would be made up to him." Says his petitions have not been answered and hopes Knox can assist him.
