Sylvia also has the opportunity to move out of the field and back into Intake at work, asks him what he thinks. She is thinking about returning to school. Talks about going overseas with the Red Cross. Written at 9:30 at home. Sylvia has been invited to participate in the dedication of the Honor Roll Plaque for the Jewish War Vets.

Sylvia talks about food and clothing available at his Camp [Lewis]. Just heard in the office that Italy has unconditionally surrendered and that Russia will be a party to the exact terms. Says another phase of the War is over and it means that it is one step closer to his coming home, and that many lives will be saved by this. Moe has now been in the Army for six months. She is glad his hay fever is not bothering him.

Written at home, Friday night. Sylvia took the car to work because Mad (sister) was able to get gasoline for 50 cents a gallon after waiting in line for an hour. Had three emergencies in Intake. She has also arranged to buy 400 tickets from the Paramount at 38 cents apiece to resell for 55 cents apiece to raise funds for the Union. Reports on his family. Went to see her mother, who wasn't home. The neighbors offered her a drink "but she is still on the wagon" even though her condition is gone. Talks about remembering him in civilian clothes.

He should know that wherever she is; she is forever loving and thinking of him and picking up pins (for good luck). She took David (sister Mad's son) with her and comments on how much fun it is to watch him and see his mind grow.

Tells Moe about meeting their Congressman and making him promise to vote against the Dies Committee and join the "Fighting 40." She asks Moe if he sent away for an absentee ballot and to get others to do so as well. Sid returned the gas ration coupon he "borrowed" from her, but remains lazy.
