Torbert, Alfred Thomas Archimedes, 1833-1880
Autograph letter signed
Title: to unknown
Torbert signs twice as Chief of Cavalry (once following his initial note, and once following a post script). Writes to an unnamed general: "You were speaking the other day of wanting a Chief of Arty. Did if ever strike you that Genl Seymour could be a good man for the position as it is his particular arm of the service and has the rank your Chief ought to have" (possibly referring to General Truman Seymour). In a post script, states "If you disapprove of an application I have [sent?] up do not let it go any farther." One bust engraving of Torbert included as collateral.
