Agrees with him that Italy's surrender is not too be cause for too much joy, as it is now the German's first line of defense and they will fight for it. Knows his chances of getting into OSS are nil.

Reports that Leslie Smith is disgusted with the Royal Maritime Service, because they wanted to ship him back out too soon, after being injured. The Union helped him get a passport to Canada. He is through with the English Navy and will ship out from Canada in a Canadian ship. Tells Moe to "say the word" and she will join the American Red Cross Overseas in England.
