Mentions other business associates such as Mr. [Joseph] Anthony and Mr. [Samuel] Hodgdon. The second letter, to Mr. Hammond, asks for further accommodations so he might take enough time to get his finances in order before paying Hammond and Colonel [William Stephens] Smith the money he owes them.

Adds that at present his resources are tied up with his land investments in Maine, so he will not be able to invest.
