Title: to Henry Jackson
Reports that the cold and marching has made Mr. Vesey ill. Tells of their travels in Maine and their high expenses thus far. Says "the Inhabitants are extravigent [sic] in their demands, they take ever[y] advantage of us knowing that we must submit, for we cannot proceed on without their assistance - from this state of act please to inform me, must I proceed on at this great expence of more than 4 Dolls pr day when on business, and as much when detaind by Mr Vesey Ill health." Continues letter on 1 November and says Vesey is still weak, but believes he can procure a horse today.
