Relates an anecdote about her little daughter finding her crying and declaring, "oh My Dear Mama I wish I could die, that I might lesson [sic] your cares." Reports that this incident "[p]ierced [her] through [her] very soul." Discusses some upcoming legal matters, including one in which General [Henry] Jackson will be her adversary. An account of the surveying that took place between the 16th and the 23rd of September at various areas in Maine. Says they had to stop surveying in Jackson, Maine due to the insurgents removing all traces of their markings. Describes the areas he believes can be surveyed without the surveyors be discovered by the settlers and recommends discharging most of the men. Does not believe there is any merit in the rumors flying around about the surveyors being in danger.
