The bill states that a quantity of animal skins will be shipped to London on the accounts of John Visger, Jr. and Jacob Ten Eyck on board the Britannia, with Jasper Farmer as the Captain. On the bottom of the bill, noted that it was printed by John Peter Zenger, 1740.

Philip believes it will not be long until they are at war with the French, at which time he will retreat from the troublesome town of Albany. He discusses in length the trading ventures of the ship Oswego, forecasts high prices for bread and flour in Europe and the West Indies, and shares some family news as well.

Preceded by a copy of a letter from 19 April 1741, in which Charles Mayne & Co. ask Robert, Jr. not to purchase any wheat on their account, but to buy flour instead. In the letter from 28 May 1741, they write that they have heard of the prohibition put of Robert, Jr.'s trade, and also give the prices of wheat and flour at various locations in Europe and the colonies. Leyborne, Rossley, and Rockiliff state that they have just been informed of a new law that prohibits the exportation of wheat, flour, and biscuit to the Kingdom of Portugal. Philip discusses plans to visit the Manor to check on the progression of the iron works, and requests that Robert, Jr. ship some goods. Followed by another letter, dated 13 July 1741, in which Philip gives urgent orders to mill flour and bake bread for market, and also discusses the construction of a hearth and furnace for the iron works.
