Cooper prays for his godson to become a clergyman, lawyer, or soldier, but not to be Archbishop of Canterbury, Chancellor or Field-marshal, because only God should choose to confer such dignities. He hopes O'Rorke will dedicate himself to advancing His Second Advent.

Curti responds to a letter from Bean, who, facing his own death, asked Curti about his faith. Curti responds that Bean's life in teaching and religious faith ought to provide him with confidence in the value of his life. Regarding his own faith, Curti offers the concluding remarks of an address he gave at Columbia University years earlier that discusses increasing knowledge of human nature and social behavior, and the American tradition of ethical idealism, which he expresses in religious terms. The first two paragraphs of the letter are hand written, the rest is typed.

Graham writes that he received an article from the Charlotte News in which Bishop Hunt discussed evangelism in Junaluska. He discusses another article about a speech in which the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church chided the World Council for not focusing enough on the redemptive aspects of the Gospel. Graham thinks this can be used as ammunition for their concerns about the reports that are coming from Bangkok. He's concerned more Methodists are not involved in the upcoming Lausanne Conference.
