Wayne notes that on 6 January 1780, the Executive Council pardoned William Cassidy and Peter Swope, both of whom were "convicted of high treason--on condition that he serve as a soldier during the present war in one of the regiments of this State..." Wayne terms the declaration of the Council "A dangerous president [sic--precedent]...of fatal consequences." Also notes the appointment of a judge who took office while failing to resign as a member of the House of Representatives. (title continues) In reply to the Richmond Address, signed by Chapman Johnson, and to other electioneering calumnies. Written during the Presidential campaign of 1828. Asserting that "no man has rendered more important services to his country, than Andrew Jackson." Defends Jackson against various opponents and assertions, and calls the attacks on him "prodigious errors." Title page notes that the pamphlet is attributed to Henry Lee, though at the end of the pamphlet the name signed is simply "Jefferson." Originally published in the Nashville Republican. Circular inviting Republican organizations to attend a "wide-awake" demonstration and torch-light procession. Instructs participants to inform Burbank, Chief Marshal of Boston, of the "number of men you can parade ... the list of your officers, and the names of other organizations in your vicinity ... " Lists the names of participants in the Ward and County Committee, and in the State Committee. Refers to the event as a wide-awake occasion. Printed on Republican Head-Quarters stationery. Clapp, a Union soldier, writes from camp near Vicksburg, Mississippi, to his cousin in Franklin Mills, Portage County, Ohio. Describes the battle of Vicksburg to Miss Clapp, stating that the city is surrounded, and that there are gunboats in the Mississippi River. Writes "the rebels agreed to surrender if we wold let three men go that is in there but Gen Grant says he is a going to have the whole of them..." Reports that Confederate soldiers in the city "have nothing to eat but ground peas and a little cow meat i think they will get sick of it bfore long but they are gritty dogs..."…

Tells them that since his last letter he has been in two major engagements at Fort McCallester on the Big Ogeechee River where they tried to capture the CSS "Nashville." Says it was handled badly. Blames his commander, Captain Worden, who is "pleasant" but "excitable." Claims that "If we win a Fight in this ship it will be more by good luck than good management." Says at the beginning of every month they need to start sending to the commander in chief "a statement in tabular form of the number of contrabands onboard, their rates and the time and terms of their enlistment."
