Title: [Sentence of court martial on Captain Eliphalet Thorp]

Thorp was tried for "abusing and plundering Margaret Weyman" and found not guilty of abuse but guilty of theft. The theft was made because Thorp had property stolen from him by Margaret's husband, who was "a vile Tory." Thorp was admonished. General Wooster approved the sentence in a short, signed note at the bottom.

" Mentions Hampton Roads, Virginia, a naval port. States "The Bow pnt will be attended to but the dimintions are wanted."

Indicates that Dale was near "the theatre of the European War," referring to the first Barbary War, for which Truxtun declined a command. In a post script, indicates that he hopes Dale will stay in the Mediterranean for a year, "which will work down some of your fat of which you have too much."

Says he mentioned Captains Dickinson, Potter, and Bloomfield in his last letter and he hopes that Dayton has heard of the decision made by the committee respecting them. Heard that Dayton's men needed arms and that he could get them with money. Sends along 288 dollars to assist him.
