Consists of 109 letters and documents related to the Macaulay, Graham, Gregorie, and Brickdale families, Majority of letters are sent from Catharine S. Gregoire to her mother Catharine Macaulay. Later correspondence is later sent to William Graham from Catharine S. Gregoire following the death of Macaulay and Catharine S. Gregoire's husband, Charles Gregoire. Letters also includes recipients of Charles Richards, Jane Frazer, Anne Frazer and Isabella Frazer from their cousin Catharine Gregoire Brickdale.

Otis praise's Macaulay's "The History of England from the accession of James I to that of the Brunswick line" and her skill as an historian. States that "God & Nature...have been equally kind to both sexes" and it is only the "Tyranny of Custom" that keeps more women from rivaling men in art and science. At her request, he discusses American affairs at length, denouncing greedy governors, oppressive revenue officers, and the damage being done to commerce by seizure of vessels owned by loyal Americans. He exclaims, "Good God! This is British liberty & felicity with a vengeance."…

Parliament's repressive laws have inflamed Americans; criticizes Britain for not sharing its triumph over France with its colonists. Convinced that the colonists are capable of governing themselves and that American legislatures should prepare for conflict, he suggests the current fomentation may result in "an entirely new Colony-Police" and upon such an alliance could arise a "Continental or Imperial Congress." Forecasts the future greatness of America.

New Orleans would fall to the Union three weeks later. Letter written on Confederate States of America stationary.
