Made sometimes around the Battle of Fort Donelson in February 1863.

Promise to pay $2,500 by January, 1882 for the Beauvoir plantation owned by Dorsey in Harrison County, Mississippi. The note was to serve as a lien against the property. Davis and his wife moved onto the estate grounds in 1877, so that Davis could write his memoirs. Dorsey died before the note came due, but left Beauvoir and three other plantations to Davis in her will.

Saw the Widow Fitzhugh, whom he claims has protection from Generals [Levit?], Blenker, and Franklin (possibly Louis Blenker and William Buel Franklin). Notes that the widow has no forage or stock beyond what she needs. Mentions Burt's Station. Comments on stock and supplies, mentioning civilians living near the Little River Turnpike.

Discusses protecting plantation boats, the enemy at Holly Springs, the position of repairing machinery, and the need for railroad cars to transport men and supplies.
