Rynier writes, "And I have been called upon to fullfill and discharge my notes, by your disappointing me, I have not been enabled to do it." Rynier has to pay James Swan. Rynier does not want to be foreman of at Knox's St. Georges estate. He remembers the disagreement over management of Knox's Brigadier Island.

Mentions if Witherspoon cannot find another arrangement he can use the house formerly occupied by Nathan Griffin for the present time. Also discusses various livestock and other farm items Mr. Center may want.

But Boston is offering a town bounty of fifty pounds for anyone who joins the local army, and this is making recruiting very difficult. Wishes that George Washington would issue an order putting the artillery on equal footing for recruitment.
