Orders to the contractors at Newburgh, New York for six days provisions for Joseph Manning, a soldier in the Rhode Island regiment who is going to home on furlough. Two dockets on verso. One is signed by Manning stating that the contractors delivered the rations. The second one is signed by Major Samuel Shaw, one of Knox's aides-de-camp. Shaw ordered the commissary to issue the rations.

Instructs Blanchard to relieve Captain Taylor's men at the east side of the River and from General McDougall. Advises Blanchard that Captain Taylor has written instructions for the governance and safety of the posts. Knox writes that Blanchard is not expected to have the same amount of sentries as prescribed in the instructions, as one sentry per work will be sufficient. Instructs Blanchard to have the men lodge inside the work and the gates closed until permitted to be opened.

Requests that the bearer of the letter, Joseph Dyer, and two other men (John Lenen and James Kendall) be given enough provisions to return home on furlough. Explains that the men are from Boston and that Dyer is a man "distinguished with honor and merrits some little notice." The verso includes an autograph endorsement signed by General Knox which grants each man ten days provisions for their trip back to Boston. Also included on the verso is a receipt of rations signed by John Dyer.

Provision return for 12 men of the light infantry commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Hull for 3 days from 1 July to 3 July. A total of 36 rations were issued. This document was signed by S. Spring, a quartermaster, and Major Shaw, Knox's aide-de-camp, and sent to James Forsyth, the Commissary of West Point. Docket signed by Tillotson stating that contractors delivered the rations.

Docket signed by a Jacob Wight stating that the rations were delievered.

Provision return sent to James Forsyth, the commissary at West Point, for non-commissioned officers and privates belonging to Captain McGowan's company of the Invalid Regiment that were being detained for a board of inspection from 1-6 July. The return also includes rations for three women and six children. A total of 176 rations were issued over the six days. Docket signed by Hillyer stating that contractors delivered the rations.

Written by Lieutenant Colonel Antill to Major General Knox. Returns an enclosed provision order (not included) for rations for his family. Asks him to sign and return it by the bearer of this letter. Says "this form I made has been purused ever since the contract, the second in command to sign these kind of Extra Issues." Says General Heath signed his paperwork last month. The letter is marked as having been sent express. There are several dates on this document, but the 7th was chosen, and Knox's reply at GLC02437.02247 was on 7 July 1783.
