Says Captain John Gyles, commander of the Block House at St. George "insensed them by telling them, if they sate still and permitted...Mr. Waldo to proceed, he soon wou'd ruine their interest, and usurp all their land, and plant it with Irish...This [he added] strongly alarm'd the tribe..."
