Reports on his activities assisting in the execution of the part of the fifth article of the Treaty of Ghent pertaining to the settlement of an United States-Canada border in the east. Discusses several problems with the enterprise, being at odds with government agents, and the various suggestions he made. Submits his ideas for Holmes to make use of as he sees fit and asks they be kept confidential. Fears becoming a scapegoat. Title: [Resolution of the Select Committee on the execution of the Treaty of Ghent]

Copy of a declaration including a letter in the report of the Select Committee investigating the expenditures made in the execution of the part of the Treaty of Ghent fixing the boundary line between Maine and Canada. The letter, written by Charles Turner, was critical of the execution of the treaty (see GLC05634.03). Also resolves "That the Select Committee be discharged from further considering the said report." Addressed to Cornelius P. Van Ness in Burlington, Vermont.
