Accomplished on four pieces on joined wove paper. Photographed at the Coast Survey Office. Signed and inscribed in upper right corner "Genl Heintzelman Respects of Capt. Abbot." Henry Larcom Abbot of the First Topographical Engineers, who compiled this map, was an 1854 West Point graduate. Abbot was wounded at First Manassas; he reached the rank of brevet major general. Postwar, he served as a consulting engineer for the Panama Canal.
