Asks Maury what the sailor's nationality is and inquires about the man's position on the Georgia. Villeneuve signs as French naval commander and major general of the Marines at Cherbourg.

Villeneuve asks that the man's story be confirmed and requests to know the name of the vessel and the state of its origin.
