Originally included as an insert for a memorial to George Washington (GLC02437.10273 & .10274) advertising Anderson's inventions to improve field artillery. Writes he separated the French artillery into three classes, heavy, light, and the Volantes, "or those without wheels ... " States that "none of them [were] above Eight Pounders, and none under Four; because, in the opinion of the inventor, One, Two, and Three Pounders are unfit for throwing Grape Shot, and for wining field defence." Apparently a bled-through copy of GLC02437.07203. Knox acknowledges that he "received your note respecting Francis Flucker and the explanations of his conduct by McEllery." Knox believes that Francis must change his behavior sincerely, but as for now he had "no moral sense: wrong and right are the same to him." He has run away from school, and until he gets his act together, Knox insists that Knox is not "responsible either for his conduct or expences."

Jackson requests that Knox attest that Jackson in the winter of 1792-1793 "went to New York at the joint instance of Mr. Bingham and yourself and negociated the transfer of Mr. Duer's right to preemtion of said lands." The lands were those purchased in Maine. Jackson then "accompanied Mr. Bringham to Boston and assisted him to transact the business of the said concern with the Committee of the Commonwealth, it was not your meaning that those service were to be compensated by an allowance of the residuary profits on the proportion of One hundred thousand acres of said lands."

Mortgage agreement with General Knox "and the whole of Township No. 2 in the First Range North of the Waldo Patent and of 7600 acres adjoining to the aforesaid Township, such part of it lying in Hamden..." On the docket, Knox notes "Mr. Dane's responsible to me that he shall obtain a paper being obligation from Thorndike and Pickman-that upon my paying them a sum not less than 7500 Dollars they shall release a proportional part of the mortgaged Lands."

Christiana Swan, daughter of James Swan, discusses with Henry Knox's daughter Lucy her ideas about mankind and manners. She says Lucy would be welcome to stay with her and her family. Lucy had asked Christiana to inquire from certain unnamed gentleman about Lucy's fiance "Col. Boid," but she has not had the chance to do so yet. Christiana thinks he won't be forthcoming, as he knows Christiana is sending information back to Lucy. Christiana, herself, can't attest to his character. Christiana tells Lucy of balls she has attended, but ultimately she has nothing that interesting to report.

Deed that states that Hepzebah Swan and Henry Jackson made an agreement with Knox "and a demand of the fifty thousand dollars has been made upon me." The document reads that "HK" objected to this and noted that on November 29, 1799 "HK cannot pronounce upon the validity of the deed nor of the right of Mrs. Swan to give such a deed....HK is ready to acknowledge and he does so to Mrs. Swan in her letter, that he cannot pay the fifty thousand dollars." Mentions another certificate "proposed by Mr. Bradford" and "drafted by Wm. Sullivan."

Knox writes that from William Sullivan he has heard that "Winthrop, and MacKay say they are not concerned respecting my plea of usery...." Knox says that they must all use the same defense "at least to induce the enemy to compromise." Knox mentions that John Amory is threatening him as well. Knox told Henry Jackson he would be there for the court filing in February, but not finds that that will be inconvenient. Knox says, "if these cases could go over the ensuing Supreme Court, it would be a relief."
