Expresses gratitude that the treaty he and Isaac Shelby brokered with the Chickasaws met with then Secretary of War Calhoun's approval. In the treaty, the Chickasaw relinquished their claims to land east of the Mississippi River and north of the Mississippi state line and were given a $20,000, fifteen-year annuity.
