Signed by Carter as a Captain in the Royal Artillery sometime after the Battle of Freeman's Farm in the Saratoga campaign. Lists the death of Captain Thomas Jones who died in action on 19 September 1777. Says he is survived by a wife.

Written by the Earl of Balcarres as a Lieutenant Colonel in the 24th Regiment of Foot. Note says that Brigadier General Simon Fraser was killed 7 October 1777 at Freemans Farm. Docket says "To The Major of Brigade."
