Moe says his friend Jay is past 30 and doing a great job but the draft board won't leave him alone. He reports that he wanted to go to the movies with Jack but they have now imposed a limit on the number of passes issued.

Moe says he is getting ready for inspection, and he has been feeling stale lately. He also notes that the mail from England seems much slower than the mail from the states. He also says that he didn't know that Susan was ill and under-developed.

Moe says he passed inspection, so he went looking for a cafe with good champagne. He also discusses Plum Paint with her.

Moe failed inspection, but doesn't mind because it gives him a chance to write more letters. He notes that it is the first anniversary of his arrival in France. He also agrees that the separation has been good for them in many ways.

Moe and the boys wandered around trying to find something to do but kept meeting with disappointment. They went back to the barracks to find Abe and Sam had opened a bottle of gin.

Moe reports that the company made a little move. There are better accommodations here, better than any they've had so far. He says he has loved Sylvia's recent letters as they really made him feel better.

Moe is still waiting to find out if they will move from Camp Boston. He describes a typical day, and says there is not much work lately he is just getting lazy. He apologizes and says that he has nothing to write about because nothing much happens...

Moe writes that he is now an infantry man for the first time, and that they are in Marseilles and living in tents. He warns Sylvia not to look for him before the 15th of November.
