Lieutenant Colonel Gaskins commanded a Virginia line in the Continental Army.

Requests that Mr. Fullerton take over Shaw's bail from Mr. Robert Morris, with the guarantee that the money will be repaid by Ogden and Knox to Fullerton and anyone who helps Fullerton acquire the money.

Discusses a court case in which Samuel Shaw is defending himself against a Mr. Holker. Reports that the jury has been dismissed, having been unable to agree on a verdict. After polling the jury, Fullerton has found that eight of the jury members were in favor of awarding Mr. Holker $2300 with interest, and the other four were in favor of awarding Mr. Holker double that amount. Believes that Mr. Shaw does not stand a good chance of winning when a new trial is called, though Shaw's lawyers are still optimistic.
