The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History provides annual short-term research fellowships in the amount of $3000 each to undergraduate students majoring or minoring in History, American Studies, Africana, Political Science, or related fields. International college students are eligible to apply.
Launched in 2022, this program enables young historians to do research using the Gilder Lehrman Collection—a repository containing more than eighty-five thousand items documenting the political, social, and economic history of the United States—and other New York City archives.
This year, Harvard College undergraduates are encouraged to apply for the Gilder Lehrman College Fellowship in honor of Professor Alan Heimert (1928–1999). For this special award, preference will be given to applicants whose projects focus on seventeenth and eighteenth-century American history.
